Some golf tournaments are about the leaderboard. Others are about the place. The Omega European Masters manages to be both. Against the Swiss Alps at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, Thriston Lawrence produced a remarkable Sunday to become a three-time champion in Crans-Montana.

Lawrence entered Sunday six shots behind Paul Casey after a three-over 73 on Saturday.

Then everything changed.

A brilliant final-round 62 took Lawrence to 18 under par and set the clubhouse target.

Casey arrived at the 18th with the opportunity to win in regulation, but a dropped shot sent the championship into extra holes.

Joel Girrbach gave the home crowd something to celebrate. The Swiss player closed with a brilliant 65 to finish at 15 under and share ninth place.

His round included an eagle at the short par-four seventh as he produced one of the strongest performances of the final day.
